Google adds support for mop robots to the Google Assistant
The Google Assistant now also offers standard support for mopping robots. This allows manufacturers of these devices to develop Assistant Actions for the voice assistant, allowing users to control the mop robot with voice commands.
The support for mop robots is identical to the existing integration for smart robot vacuum cleaners, according to 9to5google. For example, developers can implement voice commands that allow the user to put the device to work, send it back to the charging station, or find out where the robot is currently mopping.
Google’s Smart Home Mop Guide – ‘mop’ is the English word for mopping – also lists a Modes setting. This allows the user to set the machine to a different type of floor with a voice command. Some surfaces in the house need to be cleaned with soap and water, with other floors that is not desirable.
Mopping robots can be recognized in the device list of the Google Assistant by their own icon. A voice command such as ‘Hey Google, switch on the mop robot and clean the kitchen’ then does the rest.
