Google adds notification for two-stage authentication to Gmail for iOS

Spread the love

Google adds the notification asking if users are trying to sign in to Gmail for iOS on another device. The window has so far only appeared in the Google app for iOS, but it’s probably on fewer iPhones and iPads.

The addition allows iOS users to set up two-stage authentication on their Google Account without installing the Google app, reports the search giant . In this way Google hopes to convince more people to set up the extra security. The function to use two-stage authentication with a window in the Google app has been running since last year.
Two-step authentication ensures that user accounts are less easy to take over. Less than 10 percent of Gmail users had the extra form of security in January. In addition to the window, users can also choose other ways of logging in with a second factor, such as the Google Authenticator app for iOS and Android.
