Google adds more customization options for personalized ads

Google started rolling out the ‘My Ad Center’ feature on Thursday. This allows Google Account owners to choose the types of ads they want and don’t want to see on YouTube, Google Search, and the Discover feed, among other things.

The feature was announced earlier this year at the annual keynote Google I/O. According to Google, the hub give the user more control over the ads they see on the company’s websites and apps. If he is logged in to his Google account, he can go to ‘My Ad Center’ directly from the ads in Search, YouTube and Discover. There he can indicate on which topics and from which companies he would like to see more advertisements and which less. In addition, it is possible to completely block certain advertisements, such as gambling or dating advertisements.

Furthermore, the user can indicate which information may be used by Google to personalize advertisements. The user still has the option of not receiving personalized ads at all, but the ads will be “less relevant to the user,” Google says.
