Google adds images with ads to Image Search
Google is testing showing ad links that are integrated into images and shown when searching for images. Users can purchase the displayed products via the links. Google will use this more in the coming months.
Google calls the new ad form on Google Images shoppable ads. These are images that are uploaded by an advertiser, that contain products that are relevant to the search query and that contain tags. When users hover over it, they see information about the product such as the brand, name and price. With one click, searchers end up in the advertiser’s webshop and the product can be purchased.
Google mentions the search for ‘home office ideas’, ‘shower tile designs’ and ‘abstract art’ as examples. Among other things, the search giant is currently testing with shoppable ads for these three searches. According to Google, a select number of advertisers participate and the ads are shown to a small part of the visitors during the test.
In the coming months, Google will show the shoppable ads in more categories and more advertisers will also have the opportunity to create such ads. According to Google, research shows that many Americans use Google Images to view products before purchasing.
