Google adds features to new Google+

Google has upgraded its social networking site Google+ with a number of new features, including faster access to categories and clearer notifications. The updates are part of Google’s plan to redesign the social network.

An employee of the internet giant has released an overview of the innovations. One of the things Google wants to distinguish itself with the social networking site is the communities, in which it should be easier to navigate to different categories of posts. From now on, users can also ‘pin’ posts within collections, in order to save them.

Furthermore, Google will automatically play animations in gif format, but those who do not need this can turn off this feature. The notifications have also been addressed: they should now be more clearly visible by placing them in a white circle. Finally, Google warns users if they forget to finish a post when they want to leave the page.

Google announced last month that it would be giving its social network Google+ a makeover, putting more emphasis on communities. With this, the internet giant hoped to breathe new life into the website, after years of waning interest.
