Google has acquired Gecko Design, a design company that has contributed to the One Laptop Per Child project, among other things. After the takeover, the employees will have to contribute to Google’s Project X, which resulted in Google Glass, among other things.

Google confirmed it is acquiring Gecko Design in a response to Bloomberg, who was the first to report on the matter. Gecko Design itself has also indicated that it will be acquired by Google. The employees would like to bring Google into Project X, the industry from which Google Glass and the Internet company’s self-driving car originated, among other things. Google did not say what the services of Gecko Design are used for.

Gecko Design is not well known, but has contributed to some well-known products. For example, it has participated in the design of a laptop for the One Laptop Per Child project and has designed several Jawbone products. It is therefore plausible that Google will take on the design of upcoming products with Gecko Design.

The acquisition amount has not been disclosed by Google. It is also not yet known when the acquisition should be completed.
