Google acquires company that worked on 5G
Google acquires a company that was developing 5G, the successor to current 4G networks. The search company has also acquired a company that specialized in video advertising.
Google confirms the acquisition of Alpental in a statement to Geekwire, but does not elaborate on the reason for the acquisition. Seattle-based Alpental is a company owned by some former researchers from provider Clearwire, and Geekwire speculates that it has something to do with Google’s branch that offers fiber to consumers.
The search company has also acquired mDialog, according to a post on Google+. mDialog makes technology for video advertisements, which Google can use on its video site, among other things. Google’s DoubleClick division would get started with mDialog. Google did not provide further details about the acquisitions, such as the amount involved.
