Google has confirmed that some Nest thermostat models have an issue that prevents Wi-Fi from working. The company claims to provide assistance and exchange the devices if troubleshooting does not work.

This is an issue that has been reported by some Nest thermostat users since last year, but has still not been resolved. The error knows the code w5, and among other things ensures that the smart thermostat can no longer connect to the WiFi network. Google now says in a response to Android Police that the problem is known and that customers can get help.

According to Google, only a small number of users are experiencing Wi-Fi problems with the Nest thermostat, but a precise cause is not identified. For users for whom the troubleshooter does not help, Google will now offer a replacement model. Those who want to use this should contact Nest customer service.
