GoldenEye 007 releases this week on Nintendo Switch and Xbox consoles
Nintendo 64 game GoldenEye 007 will be released on January 27 for the Nintendo Switch and Xbox consoles. Developer Rare announced this on Wednesday. The Switch version will have online multiplayer and the Xbox version will run at 4k resolution.
Rare brings on Friday released an HD version of GoldenEye 007 for the Xbox One and Xbox Series consoles. The studio also introduces a remaster of the original for the Nintendo Switch. The Xbox title gets achievements, runs at a 4k resolution and, according to the developer, offers ‘smoother frame rates’. The Nintendo Switch version will receive full support for online multiplayer, while the Xbox version will only support split-screen multiplayer with up to four players.
Rare announced in September last year that GoldenEye will be available for the Nintendo Switch and Xbox consoles. However, the company did not name a release date at the time, only saying that the game would be available “soon”. The game will appear on the Switch as part of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass subscription. For Xbox players, the title will be available through Game Pass and for users who own Rare Replay. It is not known whether the game will also be sold separately on the Xbox platform.
