GOG Is Giving The Witcher 3 PC Version To Current Game Owners
The PC version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available for free until June 23 via gaming platform GOG for those who already own the title on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 or already have the game in their library of Steam, Origin or the Epic Games Store.
In order to claim the game, the GOG Galaxy 2.0 launcher must first be updated. GOG makes it clear that this does not apply to those who have The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt- Complete Edition on Nintendo Switch. That’s because there’s no Nintendo console integration on GOG.com.
Players who own the base game for the PS4, Xbox One or any of the mentioned PC gaming platforms will also get the base game for the PC. Those who own the The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt GOTY edition will also get that version through GOG. Other versions or bundles with extensions do not result in identical versions; those players only get the base game. Players who have already played the game through the GOG.com library will receive a code for the game that is available to give away.
Game platform GOG, formerly known as Good Old Games, is owned by CD Projekt Red, the developer of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The Polish studio probably wants to make its game platform more known to a larger audience, whether or not in the run-up to the release of the latest title from developer, Cyberpunk 2077. This game will be released in September.
The PC version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is not only the best version in terms of graphics and refresh rate, but also has another edge over console versions of the game: the support of mods. There are quite a few of those, such as a mod to be able to teleport anywhere you want and even a mod that allows Geralt to jump into shallow water. There is also a mod that significantly upgrades the game graphically.
