Godot Engine supports high-resolution screens from version 2.1
The developers of the cross-platform game engine Godot Engine have released version 2.1. This latest version of the engine focuses on user improvements, including support for hidpi and retina displays.
Godot Engine was made open source two years ago under the MIT license. The engine can be used to create 2d and 3d games. The Godot editor runs on Windows, Linux, Mac, FreeBSD, OpenBSD and Haiku. Games created with the editor can be exported to the platforms the editor runs on and iOS, Android, BlackBerry OS and HTML5.
The development of Godot 2.1 has mainly revolved around user improvements to the goal of creating “the simplest game developer environment”. For example, a new platform has been added to share assets via services such as GitHub or GitLab, a new plugin API and support for dynamic fonts. With the latter option it is possible to use ttf or otf files directly in a project.
On the interface side, various changes have been made for the user and options have been added, such as assigning own shortcuts and changing the appearance of the editor itself. In addition, languages have been added and scripts are loaded immediately so that you no longer have to wait for them.
The entire list of changes can be found on the Godot blog. The download size varies by OS between 12 and 16 megabytes.
