God of War PC version gets AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution alongside Nvidia DLSS
The PC version of God of War (2018) will receive support for AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution. Developer Santa Monica Studio previously announced that the PC port would support Nvidia DLSS. The game will be released for PC on January 14.
Santa Monica Studio and publisher Sony have not officially announced support for FidelityFX Super Resolution, but God of War has recently been added to AMD’s list of future games that will support supersampling technology. That was first noticed by VideoCardz. The game’s logo will be featured alongside other upcoming FSR titles such as No Man’s Sky, Call of Duty: Vanguard and The Elder Scrolls Online.
FidelityFX Super Resolution is AMD’s answer to Nvidia’s DLSS technology. The feature is intended to increase the frame rate of games. The function achieves this by rendering games at a lower resolution, and then upscaling this resolution.
God of War’s PC port was already known to support DLSS, which only works on Nvidia RTX video cards. FSR, in turn, doesn’t just work on AMD video cards; the technology should also work on various Nvidia RTX and GTX GPUs, although AMD is not responsible for its support. AMD previously demonstrated the rendering technique with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060, for example.
In addition to the two supersampling techniques, the PC version of the former PS4 exclusive will receive support for 4k and ultrawide resolutions and an unlocked frame rate. The game will also get several graphics presets and options, including new ambient occlusion options with gtao and ssdo, according to the developer. The game will be released January 14 on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
