Glued-on battery ban: EU rules for smartphones and e-bikes on the way

It has been clear for some time that stricter rules will be imposed on the use of batteries in electronics. Now that the European Parliament agreed last week, the rules are a little closer again. So it’s high time to see what those will mean.

It often takes a long time to draw up rules within the European Union. Sometimes it has to be done quickly, such as during the invasion of Ukraine, and that is possible. Most of the rules are drawn up after long consultation, and this will also be the case with the forthcoming regulation on batteries in electronics.
