Github to offer free private repos with up to three developers

GitHub now offers unlimited, free private repositories, but with a maximum of three developers involved. Previously, users had to pay at least $7 a month for a package of private repositories.

The change will be a godsend for developers who don’t want to share everything with the community right away, for example in an experiment or a project for work. Now users no longer have to turn to a competing private repos platform like BitBucket. If you want a private repo with more than three people involved with the new GitHub offer, you can still do that from seven dollars a month. Public repos still allow an unlimited number of developers to sign up.

A few things have also been adjusted on the Enterprise side. For companies, there is now only a single package, which incorporates the features of the former GitHub Enterprise Cloud and Enterprise Server.

Since 2018, GitHub has been owned by Microsoft. The Windows maker has deposited $7.5 billion for the platform. The site must continue to operate independently, but has had a new CEO. This adjustment is the first really big one since the takeover.
