GitHub repository LineageOS builds for Xiaomi is unreachable after copyright claim

The GitHub repository containing LineageOS builds for Xiaomi smartphones is currently unavailable. The page has been locked after the Chinese manufacturer of the SenseTime face unlock software filed a copyright claim with the platform.

The LineageOS for Xiaomi smartphones contains the SenseTime Mobile Face Unlock SDK and it is not open source, says the maker. Through a dmca takedown request, Beijing SenseTime Technology Development has had the GitHub repository containing the Xiaomi builds blocked.

LinageOS says in a tweet that the repository is unavailable due to a problem with GitHub. The creator of the alternative operating system says nothing about the copyright claim and states that the page will be back online when the problem is solved.

GitHub maintains a page of dmca requests, which shows the takedown request from SenseTime. Presumably, LineageOS can further develop the builds for Xiaomi smartphones if it removes the Chinese manufacturer’s face unlock software from the custom ROMs. The builds for Xiaomi smartphones can still be downloaded via the LineageOS website.
