GitHub only makes searching across all code possible for logged in users

GitHub makes it mandatory to log in when searching all code on the site. This already had to be website-wide, but now searching within specific repositories is also added.

GitHub writes in a blog post that from now on all searches on GitHub.com can only be performed with an account, including within repositories. The company doesn’t give a reason, but did recently make a new Rust-based code search engine generally available.
