Giroptic shows small 360-degree camera that can stream live with module

Giroptic releases the 360cam, a small camera that, in combination with a module, can stream real-time 360-degree video. The three-lens camera starts recording at the touch of a button and can stitch images together itself.

Now that more and more VR glasses are appearing, more and more companies are also focusing on creating images for virtual reality. One of these is the French-American start-up Giroptic, which is releasing a small, robust 360-degree camera.

The camera contains three ultrawide-angle lenses and can record in 360×300 degrees. For video, this is at a 2k resolution at 20 to 30 fps. Thanks to the presence of a soc, the 360cam can string together the images itself, without any further software or post processing involved. The housing is made of magnesium alloy and rubber, and a gyroscope and accelerometer provide image stabilization.

In addition, the camera works with various extensions, such as a Battery Base for a long battery life and a power-over-ethernet module for live streaming. With the Light Bulb Adapter, the camera can be turned into a fitting and can be used as a security camera, for example.
