Gigabyte releases minimalist motherboard in B550 series
Gigabyte has released a new motherboard in the B550 series. The B550 Vision D has a minimalist design that, according to the company, is aimed primarily at designers. Onboard are two gigabit Ethernet ports and a fourteen-phase VRM design.
The manufacturer’s new motherboard is based on the recently announced B550 chipset combined with the AM4 socket for AMD CPUs. The motherboard has a minimalist appearance and, according to Gigabyte, is mainly aimed at designers and ‘creators’. For example, the board is certified for Quadro cards.
There is a white housing above the I/O connections and in many other places on the board. The rest of the board itself also has a minimalist appearance. The Vision D does not have RGB anywhere, but various headers are present to control external RGB lighting.
The board supports up to 128GB of memory, and has two m.2 slots and four sata600 connections. The first m.2 slot is connected to the processor and offers pci-e gen4 support; the second m.2 slot connected to the chipset offers pci-e gen3 connections. There are also three pci-e x16 slots: two of which are connected to the cpu and suitable for pci-e gen4 if the processor supports it, and the third is connected to the chipset and only supports pci-e gen3. slot is electrical x16, the second x8 and the slot connected to the chipset is electrical x4. The board has a power supply with fourteen phases.
There are six USB 3.2 connections on the back panel, two of which are USB-A ports of Gen 2 and four of Gen 1, and two USB-C ports. The latter have support for Thunderbolt 3. The Vision D DisplayPort can also handle alt mode and power delivery. The Vision D also has two gigabit Ethernet ports.
Nothing is yet known about the prices and availability of the B550 Vision D.
