Gigabyte Introduces Brix Barebones With Kaby Lake-R Quadcores

Gigabyte has added new Brix Mini PCs to its lineup that feature Kaby Lake-R generation processors. There are a total of four models, two of which are equipped with a Core i5-8250U and two have the Core i7-8550U on board.

The GB-BRi5-8250 and GB-BRi7-8550 are the smallest barebones, with a height of about 3.5cm and a volume of 0.46 liters. In addition, there are two H variants, which are about 4.7 cm high and have a capacity of 0.63 liters. The larger versions of the barebones fit a 2.5″ HDD or SSD. The smaller versions only have room for an m2-2280 SSD.

All four boxes have two slots for DDR4-Sodimm memory, an Intel 802.11ac WiFi adapter and two microphones. Connections are available in the form of an HDMI, mini-displayport, two USB 3.1, one type-c connection and two USB 3.0. There is also a
gigabit ethernet port present.

The Brix Mini barebones contain the Core i5-8250U and Core i7-8550U processors that are also used in laptops. They are quad cores with HyperThreading. The i5 is clocked at 1.6GHz and has a boost speed of 3.4GHz. The i7 is a 1.8GHz model with boost to 4GHz. When the new Brix barebones will be for sale and at what price is not yet known.
