Gigabyte announces qhd monitor with noise cancellation for microphones – update

Gigabyte comes with a 27″ monitor with active noise cancellation for microphones. This goes through a built-in 3.5mm jack. The screen has a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels with a refresh rate of 165Hz and supports FreeSync 2.

The Aorus CV27Q includes a headphone amplifier with a signal-to-noise ratio of 120dB. The amplifier supports headphones with a maximum resistance of 600 ohms. The monitor also includes a microphone input with active noise cancellation. To do this, the screen uses two built-in microphones that pick up and suppress ambient noise. Gigabyte promises that it can distinguish between ambient noise and the user’s voice. The signal enters through the monitor and the ambient noise is suppressed before being sent to the connected PC.

The screen has a VA panel with a curvature of 1500R, which corresponds to the curvature of a circle with a radius of 1.5 meters. The contrast ratio is 1:3000 and the maximum brightness is 400cd/m², with which the CV27Q has also received a DisplayHDR 400 label from the VESA. That is the lowest category that the organization assigns to monitors that support HDR. FreeSync 2 is supported, including lfc, which also synchronizes low fps values with certain monitor refresh rates.

The CV27Q uses what the manufacturer calls Black Equalizer 2.0. According to Gigabyte, this works by dividing the screen into 1296 sub-areas, tuning each area individually to brighten dark areas without boosting the monitor’s overall brightness. This should help gamers see more in darker parts of a game world.

The panel has a color depth of 8bit and can display 90 percent of the dci-p3 color space. The response speed is 1ms, although this does not concern the gray-to-gray response time but the mprt, which concerns the perception of the amount of blur.

The CV27Q has a displayport 1.4 connection, which according to Gigabyte has a bandwidth of 32.4Gbit/s. As a result, according to the manufacturer, the monitor can combine a 2k resolution with 165Hz, HDR and 8bit colors. The screen also has two HDMI 2.0 ports. The monitor comes with a monitor base that is adjustable in height by 13cm and can rotate 20 degrees on its axis.

The display also uses Gigabyte’s OSD Sidekick, which allows for adjusting screen settings using a keyboard and mouse. Normally this is done with separate buttons on the monitor. When exactly the CV27Q will be released is still unknown. Gigabyte has not yet announced a price.
