Ghostery privacy extension comes with paid subscription
Privacy extension Ghostery has started offering paid plans. The service is called Ghostery Plus and for two dollars a month, users get access to the history of trackers that have been on visited pages.
Paid subscribers will also receive custom themes and priority service from the support department, reports German parent company Cliqz. More services will have to be added in the near future, which the company does not want to say yet. They must convince more people to purchase the paid service.
The main service is an overview for users of which trackers and advertisements they have encountered online in order to recognize patterns and to get a better picture of how companies are tracking them online.
Ghostery wants to receive more money with the paid subscriptions in order to keep its head above water. It should also enable investments in new services because of the monthly money coming in from subscribers. The company believes privacy-as-a-service could become a viable business model for businesses in 2019.
