The turnover from the sale of game PCs and accessories is on the rise, GfK calculates based on market research. Desktop PC sales for gaming grew 55 percent. In addition, game monitors appear to be in demand. The turnover of this product category increased by 114 percent.

In the first half of 2017, global desktop sales grew 55 percent year-on-year, while gaming laptop sales grew 24 percent. The worldwide turnover from game systems amounted to 1.5 billion euros in the past six months, but GfK has not included North America in the figures, which means that the actual turnover will be even higher. Western Europe accounts for 44 percent of that turnover, Asia and Australia 34 percent and Eastern Europe 12 percent. Sales in Western Europe increased by 11 percent.

Not only sales of PCs increased, but also sales of game accessories. The worldwide turnover of game monitors amounted to 597 million euros in the first half of this year. GfK finds that monitors larger than 24 inches, models with curved screens and monitors with support for G-Sync and Freesync are in high demand. Other game accessories also generated more sales for manufacturers. The turnover of gaming mice increased by 15 percent to 130 million euros, that of game keyboards increased by 23 percent to 117 million euros and that of game headsets increased by 10 percent to 210 million euros. GfK expects further growth in the second half of this year, due to the popularity of e-sports and the increasing interest in VR.
