German studio behind Shadow Tactics and Desperados III games Mimimi is quitting
Mimimi Games will cease to exist. The company has released several stealth strategy games since 2011, but the two founders and directors say they no longer have enough energy to continue. The developer released its last game in August.
“As founders and directors, we found it increasingly difficult to find a balance between meeting internal expectations and being available to our young families,” write the founders. Achieving those goals “requires a constant level of energy that we simply can no longer supply,” they say.
The directors also say that the costs of making the games were ‘growing faster than potential turnover’, which also made the financial pressure and risks too great. That’s why they decided to stop Mimimi Games. The company emphasizes that it will continue to support Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew for the time being. This game was released on August 17 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and Windows. There will be another patch and a ‘major content drop’ later this year. Mimimi also says she wants to support the staff in looking for new jobs and talks about an extra bonus. The founders don’t know yet what they will do next.
Mimimi Games has released five games since 2011, mainly stealth strategy games that appeared on PC and consoles. Well-known titles are Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun and Desperados III. The company worked with publishers such as THQ Nordic and Daedalic Entertainment, but released Shadow Gambit independently.
