Turkish manufacturer General Mobile has introduced a new Android One device at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The GM6 is a budget model with MediaTek-soc, 3GB ram and 32GB storage space. The device comes with stock Android.

General Mobile has not yet announced the price of the GM6. The device is probably the successor of the current GM5, which costs less than two hundred euros. That device has been for sale in the Benelux since halfway last year and the Turkish manufacturer may also release the new model here. It is unclear when the GM6 will be released on the market.

Compared to the GM5, the new model has more memory and more storage space. The battery capacity of 3000mAh is also larger. In addition, the GM6 has a fingerprint scanner, a feature that the older model does not have. Also new is the flash on the front for selfies and the front camera has a higher resolution of eight megapixels.

The device runs on a quad-core soc from MediaTek with four ARM Cortex A53 cores. The GM5 contains a soc with a similar configuration, but from Qualcomm. The manufacturer also has a 300 euro GM5 Plus variant with better specifications in its range. Nothing is yet known about a possible GM6 Plus.

General Mobile uses Google’s Android One program. This means that the device comes with stock Android and is quickly provided with notes when a new version comes out. Android One devices will receive support for two years.
