Gamers can stream Xbox One games to Windows 10 devices

With the arrival of Windows 10, Xbox One owners can stream games to laptops and tablets with Windows 10. Microsoft has announced this. However, this is probably only possible if the user is at home, ie not over the internet.

During its own event about the arrival of Windows 10, Microsoft indicated that it will be possible to “stream Xbox One games to any Windows 10 PC or tablet in the house”. It is probably not possible to stream games to devices elsewhere on the internet. For example, the streaming functionality can be used to play a game running on the Xbox One in the living room in bed.

As far as we know, the functionality only works with tablets and PCs, and not with smartphones with Windows 10 installed. The technology supports every game. Gamers can use the Xbox One controller to play.

In addition, gamers on Windows 10 can play against Xbox gamers, Microsoft has announced. Developers will have to build in support for this; it is therefore still uncertain whether all games will receive support for this.

Furthermore, Microsoft states that DirectX 12, which the company announced last year and which should be in the first games by the end of this year, provides a much better performance in games. Microsoft speaks of an increase of fifty percent, although it is unclear how the company arrives at that percentage and what exactly it refers to. The gain is probably mainly achieved in situations where a system is cpu-limited, as with AMD’s Mantle API. Finally, Windows 10 will receive a new Xbox app including an activity feed, like the Xbox One already has.
