Gamer turns Nintendo Wii into handheld

Over the years, many a console has been converted to a handheld by creatives. Now one of them, a gamer nicknamed ‘Shank’, has managed to stuff a Nintendo Wii hardware into a peppermint tin.

The device is called the Kill Mii, because it is not the most sophisticated system to play on. “The portable is not logical, comfortable or practical. But it has to be made,” Shank said on his blog in April 2017. About a year and a half later, the handheld is finished.

It includes two Nintendo 3DS analog sticks, various buttons, a USB input, a 15-minute battery life, a 340×240 LCD screen, a 35mm fan and a housing made from a peppermint can.

The games for the Kill Mii are on a USB stick, because a disk drive obviously does not fit in the handheld. In a video, he shows how to build a modified version of Super Smash Bros. Melee plays. In it he tells that he did not use an emulator, but a real Wii.
