Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3090 is equipped with a whopping 24GB of vram. As a gamer, this is of little use to you, because the RTX 3080 with 10GB is not inferior to the top model. A gamer discovered that you can also use the RTX 3090’s vram to run games from. Twitter user ‘Strife, the Revolutionary Girl’ came up with the revolutionary idea of installing Crysis 3 on its brand new RTX 3090 Founders Edition. She used the software GpuRamDrive to create a 15GB NTFS partition on the Gddr6x video memory of the gpu. Then she installed Crysis 3 on the video card’s memory. According to Strife, the game runs smoothly in 4k settings, with high frame rates and the game loads very quickly. While playing, there is still 9GB of vram left for the GPU, but the total consumption does not exceed 20.5GB. Strife has not performed benchmarks or comparisons with an installation on an SSD. Running a game from a video card probably has little practical use, but it’s a nice feat “ because it’s possible. ” 24GB of RAM isn’t enough to install your favorite game? Then it is also an option to combine two RTX 3090 cards with an SLI bridge. The combined ‘storage space’ of 48GB offers more options for game installations.Images via @ Strife212 on Twitter
