Game benchmark shows AMD Ryzen 7 5800X processor with eight cores

In the game Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation several benchmarks have appeared that have been done with an as yet unannounced AMD Ryzen 7 5800X processor. According to the benchmarks, the processor is faster than an Intel Core i9-10900K processor.

Ashes of the Singularity player DpuTiger has run several benchmarks with the unannounced Ryzen 7 CPU, from 1920×1080 pixels to 3840×2160 pixels. Each benchmark invariably uses an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 and 32GB ram. In the Crazy 4k preset with a resolution of 3840×2160 pixels, the processor achieves an average ‘CPU Framerate’ of 133.6fps. The CPU Framerate is a tool of the game with which the game calculates what the theoretical framerate would be if other hardware was not a bottleneck.

For comparison, the player ran a benchmark with the RTX 2080 GPU and an Intel Core i9-10900K CPU with a clock speed of 3.7GHz and with 16GB of ram. The processor achieved a CPU frame rate of 113.9fps on average.

With the Crazy_1440p preset, the Ryzen 7 5800X CPU gets an average theoretical score of 140.6fps; with the Crazy_1080p preset this is 142.4fps. According to the benchmarks, the 5800X processor will get eight cores and sixteen threads. The benchmarks do not provide more information, such as the motherboard used and the clock speed.

The appearance of a Ryzen 5000 CPU is striking, since the desktop Ryzen 4000 CPUs have not yet been released. Perhaps AMD will skip the 4000 series for desktops to unify the naming of the desktop CPUs and laptop CPUs. In January, AMD announced the Ryzen 4000 laptop processors, which, like the Ryzen 3000 desktop processors, are based on Zen 2. AMD will present the Zen 3 desktop processors on October 8.
