Galaxy Z Fold3 camera works again after firmware update when unlocking bootloader
After a firmware update, Samsung makes it possible to use the camera of the Galaxy Z Fold3 again if the bootloader is unlocked. A hacker discovered this in the recent firmware, and says he may be able to fix the problem in earlier releases.
That’s what a user of . says XDA’s forum† The user put the second beta release of One UI 4 on his Galaxy Z Fold3. With that version called ZUKA, all camera functions will work again if a user unlocks the bootloader. Previously, Samsung had closed that function; camera apps stopped launching when users unlocked the bootloader. Even apps that want to use the camera stopped working after a while. In a video, XDA hacker exocetdj shows that the camera is working again.
It is not known whether this works for all functions. According to XDA it only concerns Fold3s with model numbers F926B and F926N.
Exocetdj says on the forum that he was able to recover the files that make it possible to fix the camera problem in old One UI 4 betas. He has isolated it from the update, but is not releasing it yet because he is afraid that other users might block their phone with it.
