G2A will compensate gamers who lost key by Ubisoft
G2A.com will compensate users who have lost their software keys due to a measure taken by Ubisoft. The company said in a statement on Tuesday. Ubisoft started revoking keys sold by unofficial retailers this week.
In the statement on Facebook, G2A writes that the company is “doing everything it can” to compensate affected customers. That certainly applies to those who bought a key through G2A Shield. They get a new key or their money back. For the rest, G2A decides on a case-by-case basis about restitution.
Ubisoft on Monday revoked keys players bought from unofficial retailers like G2A. For example, those retailers buy keys in countries where the price is lower and resell them in countries with higher prices in order to make a profit. Players are angry because the action has prevented them from playing games like Far Cry 4 and AC: Unity.
The game publisher says it regularly removes keys that have been obtained in a suspicious way and then resold. Ubisoft has so far not provided a substantive response. Company let Tuesday via Twitter know to investigate the allegations of angry users.
