G2A PAY deducts one euro per month from users’ credit if they have not logged into their account for 180 days. On Reddit, many users are expressing their dissatisfaction with the measure, which is stated in the terms of the service.

Users who have not logged into the website for 180 days will receive an email from G2A PAY, G2A’s own payment service. It states that G2A PAY will withdraw one euro per month from the user’s credit, if he does not log in within three days.

The measure appears to have existed for some time, in October a message about the e-mail appeared in the G2A subreddit. As of this weekend, several users on Reddit have expressed their displeasure with the measure after receiving the same email. Some users claim that the measure is not legal in a number of US states, including California and Minnesota. Whether G2A PAY has actually debited money from the wallets is not yet clear

A spokesperson for G2A reports in the subreddit that the measure is necessary for “account maintenance” and that users will have three days before the amount is charged. To prevent that, they must log in. Payment is taken from the user’s G2A wallet, but not from their own account. If there is no credit in the wallet, or if there was never any credit, the account will be set to inactive. “We never force a user to make a payment or do anything with the credit,” the spokesperson said on Reddit.

The Polish website is not without controversy within the gaming community. Every user can offer game keys via the marketplace on the platform. G2A does not verify where these codes come from or how they were obtained. As a result, providers can trade wrongly obtained game codes. In addition, the site offers a fraud protection service at an additional cost, which is difficult for users to get rid of.

In 2017, Gearbox, known for the Borderlands games, canceled a partnership with G2A. That happened after game critic John Bain, better known as TotalBiscuit, reached out to the developer to inform them about G2A’s reputation.
