G.Skill releases first DDR5 kits with cas latency below 30

G.Skill releases DDR5 memory sticks with a cas latency of 28. That is a relatively very low CL timing for DDR5 memory and it ensures that the memory has a relatively low true latency. Most DDR5 bars have a cas latency of 30 or higher.

G.Skill explains with the DDR5 memory sticks with CL28 and speeds up to 5600MT/s emphasizing low latency. For both the 16GB and 32GB strips, the timings are 28-34-34-89 for the DDR5-5600 versions and 28-34-34-83 for the DDR5-5200 variants.

The cas latency of 28 means that a slightly lower latency is achieved with the new bars compared to existing DDR5 bars, although that is not a huge difference in practice. Assuming DDR-5600, CL28 means a true latency of 10ns. DDR5-5600 bars with CL32 and CL36 have true latency of 11.4ns and 12.9ns respectively.

The kits will be available in 64GB (two times 32GB) and 32GB (two times 16GB) capacities and come in the manufacturer’s three brand series: Trident Z5 RGB, Trident Z5 and Ripjaws S5. They are designed for 12th generation Intel Core desktop processors and Intel Z690 motherboards and will be available worldwide by the end of this month. The manufacturer does not mention prices.
