G.Skill is working on DDR5-6000 memory dimms with EXPO support for Ryzen 7000

G.Skill is working on Trident Z5-DDR5-6000 memory modules with support for AMD EXPO, which is intended for Ryzen 7000 processors. EXPO stands for Extended Profiles for Overclocking and will be AMD’s counterpart to Intel’s XMP 3.0.

G.Skill will later make the memory available under the product name F5-6000J3038F16G, writes Wccftech. Based on that product name, the dimm seems to be available separately and will have a capacity of 16GB. The memory has timings of cl30-38-38-96 and offers speeds of 6000 mega transfers per second. Previously, there were reports that DDR5-6000 will be the ‘sweet spot’ for Ryzen 7000 CPUs.

The G.Skill Trident Z5 modules will receive support for AMD’s EXPO technology, which has been reported for some time. EXPO will be an overclocking feature that works exclusively with Ryzen 7000 systems, as a counterpart to Intel XMP. It allows users to load an overclocking profile for their memory into their motherboard’s BIOS to achieve advertised speeds and timings. In addition, EXPO would adjust other specific settings for AMD platforms. AMD itself has not yet shared any official details about EXPO.

AMD’s Ryzen 7000 series is expected soon. The processors are rumored to be announced at the end of this month and will hit the market on September 15. The processors are based on the Zen 4 architecture and use a new socket for the first time since the introduction of Ryzen: AM5. The processors also receive support for PCIe 5.0 and DDR5 memory. According to recently leaked specifications, the chips would again be delivered with a maximum of 16 cores and 32 threads.
