G.skill introduces 2.5″ SSDs of 64GB and 128GB
The Taiwanese company G.skill has announced two SSDs. The solid state drives will be available with storage capacities of 64 and 128 GB, but the recommended prices remain shrouded in mystery for the time being.
The 2.5″ SSDs are equipped with a SATA2 interface and packaged in a metal housing. The performance is not bad on paper: G.skill provides for both the 64GB – as the 128GB version a read speed of 155MBps, while the write speed is up to 90MBps.
The SSDs use MLC flash chips with error correction mechanisms, with an access time of less than 0.2 ms. G.skill estimates the mtbf of its SSDs at 1.5 million hours, but the warranty period is limited to two years. It is still unclear when the SSDs will appear on the European market, and for what amounts the devices will change hands.
