Futuremark has announced that it is working on new benchmarks for the 3DMark and PCMark suites. The benchmarks focus on testing DirectX 12 and Vulkan performance. There will also be new Vulkan benchmarks for telephones.

The company is expanding the 3DMark suite with a new DirectX 12 benchmark for laptops, which is lighter than existing benchmarks in the package, it writes to TechPowerUp, among others. It is also working on new benchmarks for Vulkan and virtual reality, which should appear for both Windows computers and Android phones.

To simplify the testing of a large number of devices, the company is also releasing a program that can test many computers at the same time. In addition, the company is releasing a new version of PCMark for Windows 10 and new benchmarks and testing services for servers. It is not clear what these exactly mean.

Futuremark has not indicated when the new benchmarks will be released. The company will probably make announcements about this during the CES fair in January. Last month, the company released its first virtual reality benchmark, VRMark. The benchmark consists of two different tests, one to see if a computer meets the minimum requirements for running VR games and another to put more powerful computers to the test.
