Futuremark shows 3DMark for DirectX 12
Futuremark has shown the first images of 3DMark for DirectX 12 that can give a complete picture of the performance of video cards in combination with DirectX 12. The new version of the program will contain two GPU tests and a CPU test.
3DMark for DirectX 12 should ensure that the program can paint a good picture of the performance of video cards that support the api. Futuremarks product manager Pasi Virtanen indicated that the new version contains two GPU tests, including one called Time Spy, and one CPU test.
The current version of 3DMark already has partial support for DirectX 12, with the API Overhead Feature Test. This test compares the overhead of DirectX 12, DirectX 11 and Mantle. The new version of 3DMark is a full system test with DirectX 12 support, testing both graphics rendering and CPU processing capabilities.
Virtanen showed the first images of the new version of 3DMark during a presentation in China during the Galax GOC 2015 event. When the new version of 3DMark will be released is not yet known, but the benchmarking tool is expected sometime in 2016.
