Futuremark allows paying users into 3DMark 2016 beta

Futuremark has made the beta version of 3DMark 2016 accessible. This version does not yet include the previously announced DirectX 12 test game Time Spy. It does include a demo of VRMark, the benchmarking tool for virtual reality.

The beta was quietly announced via the Steam Community page and is only available to users who have the paid version of 3DMark on Steam. Although the expected DirectX 12 test game is still missing, users can already get started with VRMark. This is a demo, so no scores are shown yet. The 3d scenes can be viewed with the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive, users with only a monitor can watch a ‘flat’ display. VRMark does not currently work on Windows 7 or with multi-gpu setups.

The program’s new interface should be faster and more intuitive, Futuremark reports. Also, when the program is started, it is immediately shown which benchmark is most suitable for the computer on which the program is running. It would therefore no longer be necessary to gamble which benchmark is best to run. In addition, unlike previous versions, the benchmarks can be downloaded separately. A quick installation guide can be found via another post from Futuremark.
