Home site Funda has launched a new application that makes it possible for real estate agents to offer home seekers virtual viewings through the Oculus Rift glasses. Customers must come to the broker’s office for this.

Funda has named its application ‘Virtual viewing via funda’. Nvm brokers can use the application at no additional cost. They must have the Oculus Rift glasses to be able to show the offer to customers and it also only works for houses with at least one 360-degree photo on Funda. That would currently be the case with about 30,000 houses for sale.

According to the housing service, being able to view with VR glasses saves home seekers time. The application was especially developed for the Oculus Rift. Funda is not working on variants for, for example, Google’s Carboard concept or Samsung’s Gear VR.

According to Gonneke Daris, spokeswoman for Funda, the Oculus Rift was chosen because an advanced and stable platform is available for these glasses. “Brokers are free to buy the trial version of the glasses now or the consumer version later this year,” she says, “They can download a program from their Funda Desk and connect the glasses and then go to the Funda site, they can click a button to start ‘Virtual viewing’.” Funda has no plans to open the platform to consumers.
