Fugitive Kinox.to administrator turns himself in
One of the suspected administrators of the illegal streaming video site Kinox.to turned himself in in July, it now appears. His brother, also a suspect, is still on the run. The now detained suspect had been on the run from authorities for three years.
One of the brothers suspected of being the main administrator of Kinox.to has voluntarily turned himself in to the German embassy in Pristina, Kosovo. There was an international warrant for his arrest. He is in custody to be extradited to Germany, the public prosecutor of Dresden confirms to Handelsblatt.
The Public Prosecution Service suspects the two brothers of commercial copyright infringement, tax evasion, extortion and arson. Besides Kinox.to, the two are said to be the main operators of more illegal streaming sites, such as Freakshare.com, Shared.sx, Bitshare.com and Movie4k.to. The administrators made money from subscriptions to the streaming sites and storage services. In 2014, the Public Prosecution Service launched a large-scale search for the brothers.
At the end of December, a third Kinox.to administrator was sentenced to three years and four months in prison for ‘illegal commercial exploitation of copyrighted works’. He is also said to have been involved with Kinox.to’s predecessor, Kino.to. By the way, Kinox.to is still online. The site does not contain torrents and does not offer streams from its own servers itself; only links to streaming videos.
