French Google site mentions that Pixel 5 will go on presale on October 8th
Google’s French website briefly revealed that the Pixel 5 and the 5g version of the Pixel 4a will go into presale on Thursday, October 8. It is not yet clear exactly when the phones will be presented or released.
Pre-orders for phones usually start a few weeks before the devices are available. A twitterer noted that Google mentioned the date in its French press release about the Pixel 4a. It is now gone, but the Google cache still shows it.
With that, it seems that the Pixel 5, unlike the 4a, has not been delayed. Google typically releases its Pixel phones in October, with an announcement in early October and a release before the end of that month. The 4a was rumored to have been released in May, but won’t be available for another two weeks now.
Google announced the Pixel 4a last Monday and then also announced that a 5g version will follow in the fall, along with the Pixel 5. Google has not yet announced substantive details about the phones. The company did mention that the 5g version of the Pixel 4a in the United States will cost $ 499.
Google has now stopped production of the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL, the company tells The Verge. Stocks that have run out are no longer replenished. This means that the phone will go out of production much earlier than previous Pixel phones. The Pixel 2 and 3 remained in production for 18 months, the Pixel 3a for about a year.
