French company combines drone software with augmented reality

The French company Sysveo is working on combining drone software with augmented reality applications. The company thinks that architects, among others, will benefit from this, because they can view virtual buildings in the actual environment.

The intention is that user-created augmented reality objects will be integrated into the video stream of drones, writes the European space agency ESA, which financially supports the French company Sysveo in the project. While a drone pilot flies the unmanned aircraft over an area, the screen already shows what a building yet to be built will look like in that location, the organization gives as an example.

The company is building the software using technology described in a patent it acquired from the French space agency CNES. The patent describes the transmission of images from a camera mounted on a remote-controlled robot. According to Motherboard, Sysveo will release the software in a year and the intention is to release the source code.
