Free version of Destiny 2 will also be available on Google Stadia
Destiny 2 will be playable on Google Stadia for free. This is the New Light version of the game. Users can play the free-to-play version from November 19th. The free version will also be available to Stadia users without a Pro subscription. The game was already free-to-play on other platforms.
Destiny 2 is the first fully free-to-play game on Google’s game streaming service. Gamers can now try the service at no additional cost. The game is played at a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels with a maximum of 60fps.
Google reports to The Verge , among others, that no time limit will be added to the free version; users can play the game indefinitely. Destiny 2 does not support cross-platform multiplayer on Stadia with PC or console versions of the game.
Users can play the game through Chrome OS, the Chrome web browser, or on Android phones. PlayStation and Xbox controllers, among others, are supported . Stadia also works on the Chromecast Ultra, but only in combination with a Stadia controller.
Destiny 2 has been free-to-play on other platforms since last year . This New Light version of the game includes the Curse of Osiris and Warmind expansions, which were released in the first year after the game’s release. Newer extensions, such as Forsaken, Shadowkeep, and Beyond Light, are missing from the free version.
Previously, Google already offered Destiny 2: The Collection ‘free’ for users with a Pro subscription. That’s a version of the game that comes with the Shadowkeep and Forsaken expansions. However, a Stadia Pro subscription costs ten euros per month. This offer will expire on Thursday, Google reports. On its website, the company calls on Pro users to add Destiny 2: The Collection to their accounts before that date.
