Framework shares CAD files from Framework Laptop 16

Framework has shared some CAD files of the Framework Laptop 16. This concerns some two-dimensional, three-dimensional and technical drawings of the device. Thanks to the files, users can print spare parts for the Laptop 16 themselves.

The CAD files can currently be found on GitHub. Framework is tentatively sharing CAD files of the Laptop 16's motherboard, as well as files with information about the separate modules, the Expansion Bay, the Expansion Cards and the webcam. It's not clear if the company will share any more CAD files of the device in the near future.

Framework writes on X that these files should enable the development of skins, cases, spare parts and other accessories for the Framework Laptop 16. Framework announced the Laptop 16 in March 2023. The first copies were delivered to customers at the beginning of 2024. The Framework 16 is currently only available with an AMD CPU. The company also sells a 13.5” laptop, the Framework Laptop 13. This device can also be equipped with an Intel CPU. The smaller laptop currently costs at least 909 euros, the 16″ version can be purchased from 1579 euros at the time of writing.
