Fourth and last suspect in case of nude photos of Hollywood stars gets jail
A US judge has sentenced a 26-year-old man to eight months in prison. He will then be monitored for another three years. The man is the fourth person convicted of breaking into iCloud accounts, including those of Hollywood stars.
The Guardian writes that the man confessed in April and that he was convicted of breaking into the iCloud account of a total of 240 people. He also stole nude photos. He impersonated an Apple security officer in phishing emails to gain login credentials. Among the victims were famous people such as actresses Jennifer Lawrence and Kirsten Dunst. The material was distributed in 2014 under the designations Celebgate and The Fappening. The 26-year-old man is sentenced to eight months in prison. He then receives a supervised release, a parole in which the former inmate is supervised and has to go back to prison if he or she goes wrong again.
According to The Guardian, a total of four people have been charged in connection with these crimes. They have all received prison terms ranging from nine to eighteen months. That longest sentence, for example, was imposed in 2016 on a 36-year-old man for breaking into at least 50 iCloud and 72 Gmail accounts, stealing nude photos of more than 600 people.
