Fossil Group shows hybrid watches and smartwatches from Diesel and Armani
The American Fossil Group has announced hybrid watches and smartwatches from fourteen brands, including Diesel, Emporio Armani and Michael Kors. The smartwatches run on Android Wear 2.0, the company announced.
The smartwatches all have round OLED screens with a diagonal of 1.4 “and a resolution of presumably 360×360 pixels. The watches all have a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100, a soc from the American processor designer for watches. In addition, they all run Android Wear 2.0.
The smartwatches of the five brands Diesel, Emporio Armani, Fossil, Michael Kors and Misfit differ from each other in design and in ‘micro-apps’. These are apps for Android Wear that only run on certain watches and that have to match the target group of those watches in terms of functionality. For example, the Michael Kors watch has an app to use an Instagram photo as the background of the watchface.
In addition, Fossil Group comes with hybrid watches from fourteen brands. The specs and features of these are less clear, because the company remains unclear about it. These are traditional clocks without a touchscreen with functions to, for example, keep track of fitness data and control elements of a connected telephone. For example, users can press a button to take a selfie.
All watches will be released this year. In addition to Fossil Group, Movado is partnering with Google for Android Wear watches. As a result, smartwatches from Hugo Boss and Tommy Hilfiger are coming, the company recently announced.
