Fortnite developer Epic Games has bought the Finnish Kamu. Kamu focuses on developing anti-cheat software. Its best-known service, Easy Anti-Cheat, is used to detect and report cheating in Fortnite.

Kamu reports that the merger with Epic Games offers new opportunities, such as expanding the development team in Helsinki. At the same time, the message emphasizes that the software developer will continue to offer its services to external customers. “Kamu’s team will continue to expand its services to support all customers and their chosen engines.”

Easy Anti-Cheat is a service that supports game developers in detecting and countering cheating on their game servers. For example, the anti-cheat software generates a list of offending players. Server moderators can then check that list themselves. In addition to Fortnite, the service is used in Smite, Total War: Arena and Farcry 5, among others.
