Fortnite gets option for multiplayer via split screen

Epic has added a feature to Fortnite that allows players to play multiplayer in split screen. This allows multiple players to play simultaneously on the same console, Epic says. The creator asks for feedback on the feature.

Epic released the feature early and wants to know how it works from players. It’s possible to play Duos and Squads modes in split screen, Epic says. The feature will work after the update to version 11.30 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

It’s not often that games with an update start supporting a split-screen mode. The update also includes some other changes. For example, players can see what’s in the Item Shop on a mobile device and there is a visual indication of how much ammunition a player has left. The update for Fortnite will be available on Thursday. Saturday is an event in Fortnite, where director JJ Abrams shows previously unseen footage from the upcoming Star Wars movie The Rise of Skywalker. The Star Wars movie will premiere next week.
