Fortnite Battle Royale is coming to iOS and later to Android
Epic Games has announced that Fortnite Battle Royale is coming to smartphones and tablets. The game will be the same as the PC and console versions, and there will be cross-play between all platforms except the Xbox version.
Starting Monday, players can sign up for the iOS version of Fortnite. A selection of interested parties will then receive an email with an invitation with a link to download the game. It is not known how many invitations Epic Games will send. The studio says it will regularly add players in the coming months.
Epic Games says it is working with Sony to enable cross-play between the PlayStation 4 version, PC, Android and iOS. The mobile version also gets cross-progression. Players who play Fortnite on a console or PC can therefore log in with the same account on a smartphone or tablet.
Players who receive an invitation to the mobile version of Fortnite may in turn invite others to the game. The iOS version requires at least an iPhone 6S or SE, or an iPad Mini 4, iPad Pro, iPad Air 2 or iPad 2017. The Android version will be released a few months later; Epic Games doesn’t give more details about that yet.
