Former Nokia employees make internet-of-things device accessible
The Finnish company Haltian has developed a product that should contribute to the accessibility of the so-called internet-of-things. In addition to developers, the device focuses on consumers who can perform various actions with a simple app.
The so-called Thingsee One is equipped with all kinds of sensors. The gadget can measure speed, temperature, pressure, brightness and humidity, among other things. The device also has WiFi, Bluetooth and 2G. When it comes to physical connections, a USB 2.0 port can be used and the Thingsee One has a micro SD input.
The developers of the Finnish company have a history at Nokia. They say they realize how much time and money developing hardware costs. The Thingsee One should contribute to solving that problem. Developers could design more complex programs for the device, but for those with less expertise, an app is included that can control different applications. In this way, it is possible to set exactly what needs to be measured.
The device is waterproof and reportedly has a battery life of up to one year. The gadget also has a 1.54 inch LCD screen. The overall dimensions of the device are 110x67x19 millimeters. The Kickstarter project kicked off Monday and is expected to raise a total of $99,000. That is converted to almost 80,000 euros. The so-called Thingsee One has already collected more than 17 percent of the target amount on Monday afternoon.
