Former Hearthstone Creators Reveal Marvel Snap Collectible Card Game
Developer Second Dinner has unveiled the collectible card game Marvel Snap, which focuses on Marvel’s superheroes and villains. The studio was founded by former Blizzard employees who worked on Hearthstone.
The announcement of Marvel Snap comes after a four-year development period. With decks of fifteen cards, players compete against opponents with the aim of collecting ‘cosmic cubes’. Players can snap to double their potential rewards. A match lasts about three minutes and there are at least 150 cards to unlock from release. A ranked mode is also available.
Marvel Snap is coming to mobile devices first and later on PC as well. The trading card game is free-to-play and is published by the Chinese tech company NuVerse, a subsidiary of ByteDance, which also owns the social media platform TikTok.
In 2018, former Hearthstone director Ben Brode left Blizzard and started the studio Second Dinner with Hamilton Chu, former executive producer of the publisher. A year later, it was revealed that the developer was working on a Marvel game. The release date has not yet been announced, but it is possible to sign up for the beta for Android.
